The Lord's Supper

Do you want to honor the memory of Jesus Christ?

And He took the bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, “This is My body, given for you; do this in remembrance of Me.” In the same way, after supper He took the cup, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood, which is poured out for you.Luke 22:19-20

The body was given for all men. Blood also flowed for all people.

To this end we labor and strive, because we have set our hope on the living God, who is the Savior of everyone, and especially of those who believe.First Timothy 4:10

Do you want to testify of His death?

For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until He comes.First Corinthians 11:26

Who witnesses the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ? Everyone who received Him. Therefore, everyone in whom the Spirit of the Lord dwells has to partake of bread and wine.

Whoever confesses the Son has the Father as well.First John 2:23

Do you want to have eternal life?

So Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly, I tell you, unless you eat the flesh and drink the blood of the Son of Man, you have no life in you. Whoever eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day. For My flesh is real food, and My blood is real drink.John 6:53-55

Do you want to be in spiritual connection with Jesus?

Whoever eats My flesh and drinks My blood remains in Me, and I in him. Just as the living Father sent Me and I live because of the Father, so also the one who feeds on Me will live because of Me.John 6:56-57

Do you want to have share in Jesus?

After that, He poured water into a basin and began to wash the disciples’ feet and dry them with the towel that was around Him.John 13:5“Never shall You wash my feet!” Peter told Him. Jesus answered, “Unless I wash you, you have no part with Me.”John 13:8

This act is the order of the Lord and the condition for the believer to have a share with Him.

So if I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another’s feet. John 13:14

Everyone who has Jesus Christ as his Lord has an obligation to do this act to his fellow brother.

Do not renounce the blessing

If you know these things, you will be blessed if you do them. I am not speaking about all of you; I know whom I have chosen. But this is to fulfill the Scripture: ‘The one who shares My bread has lifted up his heel against Me.’John 13:17-18

Blessed is the one for whom Jesus Christ is Lord, who remembers His death and washes the feet of his fellow brothers.

However, blessed is not the one for whom Jesus Christ is not Lord, is in rebellion as was Judas, or the one who does not come to the Lord's Supper with a pure heart or perceives the Lord's Supper as an ordinary supper:

Therefore, whoever eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of sinning against the body and blood of the Lord. Each one must examine himself before he eats of the bread and drinks of the cup. For anyone who eats and drinks without recognizing the body eats and drinks judgment on himself.First Corinthians 11:27-29
